Cholera Near Les Bours

Word is spreading that the cholera outbreak has reached Cite Soleil and the road that our elementary school is on. Over 14,000 people have been hospitalized with the disease and over 900 have died. Unfortunately last week's hurricane mixed the infected water and spread it around causing the cholera outbreak escalate. People are dying only 24 hours after becoming sick. There have been confirmed deaths near the area of our school but we do not know the water source they were drinking from. Please pray that our wells in Les Bours will not become contaminated. These wells provide water to all of our students and families in Les Bours. Keep our students and their families in your prayers.

On Friday Haiti had another earthquake. It was recorded as a 4.4 and it was shaking near downtown and Croix-de-Bouquets. We talked with HOPE House and we are so thankful that everyone is safe. Myslene said all of the children were inside but our house did not even shake. We have not heard from anyone in Les Bours yet. Our dear friends in Haiti are losing hope. What will happen next? They live in fear from day to day. This year has been one disaster after another with very little relief.

Frentz and I have been busy spreading the truth about Haiti's current situation around Michigan. Today we are speaking at the First United Methodist Church in Midland at 4:00pm and tomorrow morning I will appear on Julie Doan's show in Midland. We have several speaking engagements a week scheduled until we go back to Haiti after the holidays. W are currently trying to fundraise for the operational costs of running HOPE House for the next year. We will officially open as an infant care center/orphanage in early March. If you are interested in learning more about how to can be part of caring for precious, malnourished, and unwanted children please contact us! haitipoverty@gmail.com
