Where Has Summer Gone?

Thank you for all of your prayers during the last tropical storm. God certainly heard and answered our cries! The storm blew directly West across the Dominican Republic, stopped, blew North over Haiti, and then continued West again. Amazing! I could hardly believe by eyes as I watched the radar. (I should have believed the while time since that's exactly what we were praying for!) What a mighty God we serve!

Things are going well down in Haiti. Jean is reporting that the puppies are HUGE! Joseph called laughing the other day because both dogs were standing in the doorway of the large storage room barking at him and they absolutely refused to move and let him in. Papa Jean had to come over and tell them it was okay. Sounds like they will be great guard dogs! The other day Jean was out buying something at the market and the dogs went into the kitchen. Myslene and the nannies kept yelling at them to go outside and Riggins and Chuck both continued to roll over on their backs with all four legs in the air in complete defiance. As soon as Jean came home they went running outside.....little stinkers!

The kids are getting ready to go back to school! Uniforms are being sewn, tuitition is being paid, and books are being purchased. If you haven't already signed up to sponsor a child for school NOW is the time! We still have many children waiting for sponsors so they can begin the 2011-2012 school year! Sponsoring a child for $30 a month truly changes their life forever.

The school has been undergoing many improvements this summer! We have a new, safer, spiral staircase leading up to the 5th grade classroom! The courtyard was cemented last week, and the counter tops and cupboards have been installed in the new kitchen! We hope to complete the kitchen and repaint with our October short term mission teams!

We have been busy here in Michigan packing for our next shipment. We hope to have a container on its way to Haiti by the end of the month. We are still missing one very important piece in this proces....a truck driver! Please join us in praying for a driver and for the shipment to be packed, sent, and out of customs while Frentz and I are in Haiti this fall! (And it would take a miracle. Getting down on your knees, pleading and begging, and tearing of clothes may be necessary in this case!) The container will be filled with the new playground equipment for HOPE House, new pre-school chairs for the school, school supplies, food, toys, shoes, hygiene kits, and more. Thank you to all of you who have contributed to this container of donations! I can't wait to open it up in Haiti! That will be a glorious day!

Hope you are enjoying your summer! Thanks for being part of the HFAP family and loving Haiti!
