Praying for Jeeves

I am writing tonight to ask that you lift up little Jivenson in your prayers. He has been sick for several weeks now and is not getting much better. Please pray for him to be released from the pain he is in. Pray for him to be able to eat and gain some weight back. Pray for the wisdom of his doctors as they work to diagnose and treat him. He was the second child we took in at HOPE House and is near and dear to MANY who have traveled to Haiti. His smile and laughter lights up our lives at HOPE House. He is everyone's #1 snuggle buddy! We love him so much and hate that he is suffering right now. Please pray for a miraculous healing from our Heavenly Father!

I am so thankful for all of our supporters continued encouragement and prayers. It takes a lot of people to accomplish God's work in Haiti! We have asked for miracles before, and we have seen them happen! And I am confident it will happen again! Thank you for being part of the HFAP family!

Hope to see you this week!

Frentz and I have thoroughly been enjoying our time back in the states. We have been able to see so many of our friends and family members and really spend time thinking and praying about our future goals and programs. And yet at the same time we are missing Haiti something fierce! We are in communication with our kids and staff almost everyday. Here are some of the updates we have been receiving:

1.) A few nights ago there was a terrible wind and rain storm in Port-au-Prince. Several places lost their tin roofs and it uprooted a large tree in our yard. (One of the only trees we had left from the Fall's tornado) Thankfully it did not hit any of our buildings as it came crashing to the ground!

2.) Madame Vinya, our cook for the Gift of Hope, was hit by a moto near the three hands statue. (Those who have been to Haiti know how chaotic this circle can be!) Our staff is telling us it was a near death experience for her but she only has broken feet. She is one of our oldest staff and it could take a long time she her to heal. She has been laying down at home since the accident. Please be praying for a quick healing!

3.) Yesterday we received a phone call from one of our nannies the Jivenson is sick. He threw up yesterday morning and evening and had diarrhea throughout the day. They have him drinking lots of fluids and I am waiting to hear how he did through the night. Please pray for our Little Jeeves to feel better!

4.) Gerlande (Jivenson's mom) had her baby! We knew it would be due anytime! All we know is that she and the baby are both alive! Thank you JESUS! We are so excited! I am waiting to hear if it is a boy or a girl and what name she chose. Thank you to all of you who have been praying for this precious family!

Also, I have a few updates of my own! Frentz and I have been busy with his paperwork to be a resident in the United States. He is currently studying for his drivers test! We hope he will have his driver's license by the end of the week! (He already drives in Haiti, but our rules are slightly different! For example, in Haiti they use the horn, where in America we have a second pedal we like to call the brake!)

This week we have two fund raising events we would love for you to be part of!

On Thursday evening we are hosting a spaghetti dinner from 5:30-7:30 at the Midland Free Methodist Church. (5821 Eastman Ave) I will be speaking at 6:30 and giving a full update on our programs and sharing many pictures! Please being yourself, donations, and learn more about HFAP and the precious people we serve in Haiti.

On Friday evening we are having a formal dinner to benefit HOPE House at Church of the Servant in Grand Rapids, MI. There will be live music, delicious food, and a silent auction with some amazing items to bid on! I will be speaking during dinner and giving a full update on HOPE House. Tickets are $25 per person. (This includes food and drinks)

For more information on these dinners and other events please go to www.haitipovety.org and visit our "events" page.

Hope to see you this week!
